Tirzah Blackstone, the Clarion University women's soccer team defeated Seton Hill in the season and PSAC opener Thursday night at Clarion's Memorial Stadium.
"I spoke to the team at halftime, and I wanted to keep attacking the way we were in the first half," Clarion head coach Rob Eaton said. "I was very pleased with the number of shots we had. At times, we looked very dangerous."
After a scoreless first half that saw Clarion outshoot Seton Hill 11-9, the Golden Eagles broke through early in the second half when Liebdzinski scored in the 49
th minutes to give Clarion a 1-0 lead.
Alyssa Katz and Stephanie Sikova had the assists.
Blackstone then put the game away in the 67
th minute scoring off a feed from
Mackenzie Stover.
"Tirzah is very fast," Eaton said. "I hoped putting her into the game would give us a boast."
Junior goalkeeper
Laura Saussol made the two tallies standup recording her seventh career shutout, the third most in school history, by making six saves, all in the first half.
Clarion is 1-0 for the second time in three years, while Seton Hill drops its first-ever PSAC match.
NOTES – Clarion outshout Seton Hill 21-16 including 10-7 in the second half with none of Seton Hill's second-half shots going on goal.
