BEHIND STOVER GOLDEN EAGLES MOVE TO 2-0

Mackenzie Stover had two first-half tallies for the Golden Eagles

Box Score JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Behind a pair of first-half goals from Mackenzie Stover, the Clarion University women's soccer team moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 3-0 win at Pitt-Johnstown Saturday afternoon.

"I'm very pleased," Clarion head coach Rob Eaton said. "It was just an all-around good performance from our team."

Stover started the scoring early connecting on a shot from inside the box in the fifth minute to give the Golden Eagles (2-0 overall, 2-0 PSAC) a 1-0 lead. Alyssa Liebdzinski had the assist.

A little less than 10 minutes later, in the 15th minute, Stover took a long pass from Megan Lawson and scored on a breakaway to make it 2-0.

Liebdzinski then capped the Golden Eagle scoring in the second half scoring in the 60th minute off a feed from Jordan Bahr to make it 3-0.

That was more than enough for goalie Laura Saussol, who recorded her second consecutive shutout making three saves.

Clarion returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Slippery Rock.

NOTES – It was the first time Clarion has scored three or more goals since netting four in a 4-1 win over East Stroudsburg Sept. 10, 2010 … The Golden Eagles are 2-0 for the second time in three seasons and 2-0 in the PSAC since 2007.
