(Hartsville, S.C.): Clarion continued on its Spring Trip on Monday and lost a doubleheader to Coker College by scores of 5-0 and 7-3, despite two hits by
Nick Maskrey in game one and
Derek Danver and
Tyler Falk getting two hits in game two.
Clarion drops to 2-4 on the season and will play at Francis Marion at 7pm on Tuesday.
In game one
Tyler Delval tossed 5 innings and gave up five runs, four earned, while giving up 6 hits and striking out 2.
Ken Dibucci pitched one shutout inning.
Coker scored five runs in the bottom of the first for the only scoring of the game. The Golden Eagles had 6 hits with Maskrey hitting two singles.
In game two
Alex Borofski was the starter and loser pitching 3.1 innings and yielding 6 runs, four earned on only 4 hits.
Sam Skraba tossed 1.2 innings in relief giving up one run.
Down 2-0 in the third inning, Clarion's
Mitch Holmberg doubled, advanced to third and scored on a ground out by
Derek Danver to close to within 2-1.
Coker tallied one in the bottom of the third and three in the fourth to take a commanding 5-1 lead.
Clarion scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth
Joe Holmberg reached on an error and eventually scored on a single from Danver.
In the sixth
Tyler Falk singled,
Ben Thomas reached on an error and
Shayne Reimold singled to load the bases with no outs.
Nate Bonfardine hit into a double play scoring Falk from third and
Joe Holmberg grounded out to end the game.
