GOLDEN EAGLE NETTERS TOP DAEMEN 6-3 (Williamsville, N.Y.):
Megan Bettwy,
Jessica Kennelly and
Jessica Dgien were double winners as the Clarion University Women's Tennis team opened its Spring campaign on Saturday, February 28
th with a 6-3 win at Daemen College.
Clarion remained undefeated on the 2014 - 15 season – raising its overall record to 6-0 while Daemen dropped to an 8-11 overall record.
In singles play
Lauren Zezenski dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Karli Hollins at #1;
Megan Bettwy defeated Hayle Scanlan 7-6 (7-5) 6-1 at #2;
Madeline Robinson lost a 6-3, 6-1 match to Gretchen Ringler at #3;
Maria Snyder won 6-1, 6-0 over Aman Shamaa at #4;
Jessica Kennelly defeated Tianna Washington 6-1, 6-2 at #5 and
Jessica Dgien won a 6-1, 6-1 match over Maria McGrath at #6.
In doubles play Zezenski and Snyder lost 8-2 to Hollins and Scanlan at #1; but Bettwy and Robinson defeated Ringler and Shamaa 8-1 at #2 and Kennelly and Dgien defeated Washington and McGrath 8-5 at #3.
Clarion will next play Stockton College in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on March 8.
