Box Score 2 WILSON, N.C. – The Clarion baseball team dropped both ends of a twinbill with Fairmont State on Sunday, falling 12-4 and 4-2 in the early and late games, respectively, to the Eagles. With the losses, Clarion falls to 1-4 overall on the season.

Mike Lockhart went 2-of-3 with two doubles and three RBIs in the early game against the Eagles, driving in a pair of runs of the game in the bottom of third inning. Mitchell Holmberg led off the inning with a single and
Josh Ponsoll added a base knock on the next at-bat to give the Golden Eagles two on and no outs. Lockhart doubled to bring the pair in and cut Fairmont State's lead to 4-3.Â
Mason McGuire had opened the scoring for the Golden Eagles in the previous inning, plating
John Finke with a two-out RBI single.

Lockhart drove in another run in the seventh inning, driving home
Tyler Falk. Falk hit a one-out double and was followed by Lockhart's second extra-base hit of the day, bringing him home to make it 12-4.Â
Kane McCall took the loss, throwing 3.2 innings and allowing 10 runs.Â

The Golden Eagles did their damage in the third inning of the nightcap as well, with Lockhart and
Tyler Delval driving in the lone runs of the game. Ponsoll reached base on a one-out single and stole second to get into scoring position, and further advanced to third on a passed ball. Lockhart brought him home with a double, and Delval scored him from second on a two-out single. That cut Fairmont State's lead to 3-2, as the Eagles scored three runs in the first inning to take the lead. The Eagles tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to seal the win.
