Tyler Delval went 2-of-3 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Delval also pitched a lights-out game against the Golden Bears, throwing a complete game and allowing just two runs – one earned – while striking out 13 and allowing just one extra-base hit.
Â
The two teams entered the eighth inning tied at 2-2 when Delval sat the Golden Bears down in order, inducing a groundout from Nick Lafferty and striking out Zach Schram and Alec O'Dell to end the inning.Â
Tyler Falk reached on an error to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a passed ball; Delval broke the tie in the next at-bat, stroking a double to left field to make it 3-2.Â
Â
The defensive struggles continued for Kutztown when
Mason McGuire reached on an error, allowing Delval to score, and
Matt Kamenicky's single put runners on the corners with no outs.Â
Brian Laurito dropped down a bunt and reached first on an error from pitcher Kurtis Hultz, bringing McGuire home to make it 5-2. The bases were loaded with just one out when the Golden Bears committed their fourth error of the inning, with

Â
Delval knew what to do with the lead, too, taking care of business in the top of the ninth inning to put the game away. He struck out the side of Golden Bears to close the game, inducing strike three swings-and-misses on each of the three batters.
Â
Kutztown took a 1-0 lead early in the game on a two-out single from Mike Milazzo, but DelVal countered with a home run to lead off the top of the second inning to tie the score. Holmberg scored on a double-steal in the bottom of the third inning and the Golden Bears scored in the next half-inning, but things remained quiet until the eighth-inning outburst.Â
