CLARION, Pa. – The Clarion women's tennis team controlled the bottom half of the lineup on Saturday, but ultimately fell to the California (Pa.) Vulcans by a 6-3 score at Campbell Courts. Clarion (5-7) will host Edinboro in their final home match of the season on Wednesday, April 5.

Allison Probst and
Katie Benson were in control in the lower portion of the lineup, with Benson going 2-0 on the day and Probst also claiming a singles win.Â
Vinisha Reddy teamed with Probst for a win at No. 3 doubles to contribute to the team score as well, with Clarion standing well against the seventh-ranked team in the region.

Benson's day started with a doubles victory over Liz Wohar and Charlotte Gallagher in the No. 3 doubles match. She and Reddy won a tight one against the pair of Vulcans, and she followed that up by claiming a three-set victory over Gallagher at No. 6 singles. Benson handily won the first set by a 6-1 score but dropped a 7-5 second set. She held off Gallagher in a tight third set tiebreaker, winning 10-8.

Probst also won a singles match on Saturday, beating Wohar in straight sets in the No. 5 singles match. She shut Wohar out in the first set for a 6-0 win, and then won a close 6-4 decision in the second set to complete the win.
