Box Score 2 DUBOIS, Pa. – The Clarion baseball team earned a pair of wins on the road on Tuesday night, defeating Penn State-DuBois by scores of 5-0 and 5-2 in a doubleheader. The Golden Eagles (9-22) will resume conference play this weekend with a four-game series against Pitt-Johnstown, starting with a doubleheader at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler on Friday.

Dillon Wolbert got the start in the early game and threw a complete-game three-hitter, shutting out the Nittany Lions over the course of seven innings. Though he walked three and struck out only two, Wolbert faced just five batters over the minimum in the victory.

Neither team scored in the first three innings, but Clarion came through with the only run they'd need in the top of the fourth inning. The Golden Eagles tacked on runs in the sixth and seventh innings to secure the win.Â

Four different Golden Eagles drove runs in during the first game, and two of those players –
Mitch Holmberg and Joe Lopez – recorded multiple hits. Tom and
Mike Connell both offered RBI's as well.

The Golden Eagles tinkered with the pitching staff in the second game, with
Phillip Goth getting the start and the win. He tossed 4.1 innings, allowing just two runs with two strikeouts and two walks.Â
Jay Moog entered to toss 1.2 scoreless innings of relief, and Tom Connell got the save with a scoreless seventh.

PSU-DuBois took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Clarion added single runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take the advantage. The Golden Eagles added two insurances runs in the top of the sixth inning to make it 5-2.

Tyler Falk went 2-of-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while
Ty Bittner also contributed multiple hits.Â
Cole Shaffer, Tom Connell, Bittner and
Brady Andrews all drove in additional runs.
