Game 1

Dereck Pritchard (2-2) earned the win after entering in relief of starting pitcher
Dillon Wolbert, who threw 5.0 innings and allowed just three runs. Pritchard escaped a jam in the bottom of the sixth inning with minimal damage, entering with runners on first and second and one out but leaving having surrendered just an unearned run.
Jeremy Frazier entered in the bottom of the seventh for a 1-2-3 inning and the save.
The Golden Eagles opened with a run in the top of the second inning, scoring on a delayed steal that ended the inning.
Max Mari got a good jump and scored from third base, putting Clarion ahead 1-0 despite
Devin Beverly being thrown out at second base. The Nittany Lions scored two in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead, but
Jake Turpin tied the score in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly that plated
Mike Connell.
An error by
Will Constantin allowed Penn State – DuBois to take a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning, but
Nick Fugh and
Chandler Palyas got things going in the top of the seventh with back-to-back one-out singles.
Cole Shaffer added another to load the bases, and Mari and Connell drove in a pair to put their team ahead for good.
Game 2
The Golden Eagles utilized a host of pitchers in a piggyback start, ultimately resulting in a 3-2 win over the Nittany Lions. Pat McGinley (1-0) was the last pitcher to throw before the Golden Eagles took the lead for good, coming in for the bottom of the second inning before Clarion scored twice in the top of the third.
Josh Kirwin came in to get the final two outs of the seventh inning.
Clarion recorded just three hits in the second game, but they made those hits count. After Fugh led the game off with a single, he stole second and third base to work his way into scoring position.
Brady Andrews hit a sharp ground ball to shortstop, allowing Fugh to score and giving Clarion a 1-0 lead.
The Nittany Lions tied it up in the bottom of the second inning, but Palyas put his team on top for good with his first home run of the season. With Constantin on first base after being hit by a pitch, Palyas pulled a ball over the right field wall for a two-run blast that gave his team a 3-1 edge. The rest of the Clarion staff made it stand up, with four different pitchers allowing just one run in the final five innings.
