Soccer Edged by Mercyhurst

Box Score ERIE, Pa. – A first half goal was the difference, as the Clarion women's soccer team was edged 1-0 on the road against PSAC rival Mercyhurst Saturday afternoon.

Clarion drops to 4-11-1 overall and 3-10-1 in the PSAC while the Lakers improve to 9-5-2 overall and 8-5-1 in the PSAC.

Mercyhurst's Lauren Casey Kaitlyn tallied a first half goal in the 42nd minute on a shot that slotted the right post from the left wing to be the keeper Brigid Stermel, to give the home team a 1-0 advantage.

Clarion again proved frugal on defense, behind Stermel's 12 saves, compared to the number of shots that she had to face, the Clarion back line had a great performance defensively.

Even though the Laker attack was running on full tilt, the Golden Eagles remained within striking distance throughout the entire match. Andie Hill who continues to have a stellar senior year registered the lone shot on goal for the Golden Eagles.

Clarion will return home this Wednesday, November 6, to take on Gannon in the final home contest of the 2019 season. Kickoff is set for 7 pm at Memorial Stadium.
