Men's Swimming Wins Big in Indiana, Downing Crimson Hawks

INDIANA, Pa. - Hitting the road for a PSAC dual meet on Saturday afternoon, the Clarion men's swimming team picked up a victory over the hosting IUP Crimson Hawks by a final score of 143-94. The victory moves the Golden Eagles to a perfect 4-0 and 3-0 in the conference.

Looking to build on the win, the Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday, January 22nd when they head to the Pidgeon Memorial Invitational in Carlisle, Pa. 

"Today we switched up some events and it was successful," said head coach Bree Kelley. "Once again our men rose to the occasion and got the job done picking up the win."

To start the afternoon, the 200 medley relay team of Nick Soares, Connor Cary, David Bocci and Jacob Yant started the scoring for Clarion with a second place finish, touching the wall with a final time of 1:37.14

Ty Rabenstein and Trent Napholz followed that up with a one, two finish in the 1000 Free, as Rabenstein paced the field with a final time of 10:04.32, while Napholz finished with a time of 10:20.60.

Following suit, Mason Irwin picked up a first place finish of his own in the 200 Free with a final time of 1:44.36.

Just a few events later, David Bocci grabbed a first place finish in the 100 Fly, pacing the impressive field with a final time of 50.96. 

The Golden Eagles continued the stellar afternoon, taking first, second and third place finishes in the 100 Back with Cary leading the way with a final mark of 52.79, while Bocci and Corey Mock rounded out the final podium spots respectively.

In the final distance event of the night, the one-two punch of Rabenstein and Napholz lead the way, as Rabenstein grabbed the top spot with a final time of 4:48.79

The 200 Free Relay team of Austin Prokopec, Brenek Strawn, Irwin and Yant finished the day with a first place finish, while the "B" team of Napholz, Jimmy Connor, Soares and Paul Flowers grabbed second place.

In the diving events, Jack Beattie took home a first place finish in the 3M Dive, finishing with a final score of 217.20. In the 1M Dive, Jordan Morret took to the 1M dive scoring a 152.85.
