Tennis Clipped by Crimson Hawks on the Road

INDIANA, Pa. -- The Golden Eagle tennis team played their penultimate match of the season on Tuesday, falling by a 7-0 score on the road to IUP. Clarion will play their 2022 season finale a week from today when they travel to Erie to take on Mercyhurst. 

The Crimson Hawks swept the doubles session against the Golden Eagles, winning at both Nos. 1 and 2 doubles to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles portion. Things were closer in latter half of the match, with Alexis Strouse and Charlie Allison faring well in their respective matches. Strouse took on Karolin Kirchtag in the No. 1 singles match, pushing in the first set before falling by a 6-2, 6-1 score. 

Allison, meanwhile, played a solid first set against Lydia Vlachou in the No. 5 singles match, falling by just a 6-2 score in the first set. Vlachou held her off with a 6-0 win in the second for a straight sets victory. 

Elsewhere on the courts, the Crimson Hawks took the remaining three singles matches contested, locking up the 7-0 decision.
