INDIANA, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle soccer team concluded their season series with IUP on Wednesday afternoon, remaining unbeaten against the Crimson Hawks for the second straight season with a 1-1 road draw in Indiana.

Clarion has compiled a 2-0-2 record against the Crimson Hawks over the last two seasons, though Wednesday's meeting was quite different than the game earlier this season. When these teams met in early September in Memorial Stadium it was a high-scoring affair that the Golden Eagles won by a 3-2 score. The second go-round featured lots of shots but only two goals as Vanessa Berlin and
Alex Velez did a good job keeping their respective opponents off the board.

The Golden Eagles struck first, scoring in the 30
th minute to briefly take the advantage. Clarion forced a corner kick, with
Kylee Cross hitting a low line drive into the crowd. The ball deflected out to
Emily Mannion, who settled the ball and ripped a high, hard shot underneath the cross bar with her right foot. The tally was Mannion's second goal of the year.

The Crimson Hawks evened the score little more than five minutes later, when Julia Csernyik beat Velez off a free kick to make it 1-1. That would be all the scoring for the first half, though Velez did stop a shot from Maddy Orr with 2:27 left in the half.

The Golden Eagles kept Berlin busy in the second half, putting three shots on net that necessitated saves.
Marisa Colondrillo put two shots towards the net, including one that Berlin had to save, and
Reese Aquilio and
Sam Felder each also forced saves. Velez enjoyed relative peace on the other side of the field as the defense managed to keep shots away from the goal mouth.  Emma Hays did manage a shot in the 87
th minute but it sailed wide left.
