CALIFORNIA, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle soccer team kept their PSAC playoff hopes alive with a road win on Saturday afternoon, as Clarion beat California (PA) by a 2-1 score at the Phillipsburg Complex. They rallied from a 1-0 deficit to score two unanswered goals in the second half to top the Vulcans and split the season series.

Cal led the game 1-0 after 45 minutes, and were outpacing the Golden Eagles on total shots (5-1). Lorina Romeis scored on a free kick in the 13
th minute, teeing it up from just outside the box and beating goalkeeper
Alex Velez to the lower lefthand corner. Clarion's only attempt on net in the first half came in the 37
th minute, when
Nadia Gill forced keeper Emily Ouimet to make a save.

The Golden Eagles battled through the early portion of the second half before finally tying the score in the 76
th minute.
Savannah Houk let loose a free kick from near midfield, depositing it in the box at the feet of
Jaci Bowser. Bowser turned and push the ball toward net, with
Ciara DiMauro getting there on a dead run and blasting it past Ouimet to make it 1-1.

Clarion scored the go-ahead goal in the 85
th minute, with another freshman –
Alyssa Aquilio – putting the team ahead. The Vulcans were handling the ball in their own end when they pushed a pass toward Ouimet for a reset. Pressure from a Golden Eagle forward caused Ouimet to mishandle the ball, with Aquilio stepping in and lofting a shot over her head into the net for a 2-1 lead.

Shots ended up in Clarion's favor, with the Golden Eagles outpacing the Vulcans 9-8 in total shots and 8-4 in shots on net. Velez ended up making three saves.
