HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. --- The Golden Eagle tennis team continued their week at Hilton Head Island on Tuesday, falling by a 4-0 score to Chowan in their second match of the week.
The Hawks opened the day by sweeping the doubles session against the Golden Eagles, winning two of the three matches by 6-1 scores. Manuela Jimenez and Maria Estinvil topped Davan Lion and Alexis Strouse in the No. 1 doubles match, while Selene Kentish and Sreshta Puducheri beat Josie Beckerleg and Savannah Buttery in the No. 2 doubles match.
Chowan clinched the team win with victories in three singles matches. Jimenez defeated Alyson Fisher 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles match, Kentish topped Buttery in the No. 4 singles match, and Puducheri downed Beckerleg 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles match. The two unfinished matches at the top of the lineup were the most competitive, with Lion leading Estinvil 3-2 in the second set and Strouse trailing just 3-2 in the No. 1 singles match.
Clarion will continue action tomorrow afternoon when they face Brevard at 3:30 p.m.
