Tennis Falls to 41st-Ranked Crimson Hawks

INDIANA, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle tennis team took on a nationally-ranked opponent on the road on Wednesday, losing by a 6-1 score to 41st-ranked IUP at Maple Street Courts. Clarion will remain on the road for one more match, as they head to Allegheny on Thursday, April 13.

In the doubles session, the duo of Alexis Strouse and Davan Lion pushed the Crimson Hawks' top pairing of Katy Graydon and Karolin Kirchtag. However, the Golden Eagle squad ultimately dropped the No. 1 doubles match by a 6-2 score. IUP clinched the doubles point with a win in the No. 2 doubles match, with Natalie Kmoskova and Joanna Stralka winning by a 6-0 score.

Lion also played in perhaps the most competitive singles match of the afternoon, taking on Kirchtag in No. 1 singles. Lion pushed Kirchtag to a 6-3 score in the first set before falling by a 6-0 score in the second. Strouse drew the assignment of playing Kmoskova, taking a game off her in each set but ultimately losing in straight sets in the No. 2 singles match.

The Crimson Hawks controlled the action in the other three singles matches on the court, winning in straight sets in each to clinch the win.
