MEADVILLE, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle tennis team played their final road match of the 2022-23 season on Thursday, falling by an 8-1 score to Allegheny at the Robertson Tennis Complex.  
Clarion will return home for their final two matches of the year, starting with a Sunday morning clash against Lock Haven at Campbell Courts. They will finish their season against Mercyhurst on Tuesday, April 18. 
Charlie Allison picked up Clarion's win in the singles session, outlasting Noelle Kidd in the No. 5 singles bout for her third singles win of the season. Allison took a tight first set against Kidd, winning 7-5, before going on to a 6-3 win in the second set to seal the straight-sets win. 
Most of the matches in the singles sessions were similarly close, but in those instances the Gators were the winners. Lauren Passarelli edged out Savannah Buttery in a tight No. 6 singles match, winning by a 6-3, 6-4 score, while Maria Lounder topped Josie Beckerleg 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles match. Alexis Strouse pushed Jean-Arlette Legrand to a 7-5 score in the first set, but Legrand followed up with a 6-0 second set for the win. 
Allegheny won close decisions in the doubles session to take all three points there as well. Buttery and Allison played the closest match of the session, falling to Lounder and Sabrina Rodriguez by an 8-5 score. Beckerleg and Alyson Fisher also lost in a hard-fought match at No. 3 doubles, losing 8-4 to Allison Riley and Sophia Mita.
