GREENSBURG, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle baseball team went on the road for their second doubleheader of the weekend against Seton Hill, with Clarion dropping both games of the twinbill to the Griffins. Seton Hill won the first game of the day by a 12-3 score, and took the second by an 11-0 margin.

Seton Hill 12, Clarion 3
Recap: The Griffins struck first in the bottom of the first inning, hanging four runs on starter
Reilly Shafer. Three of those came on one swing from Jack Oberdorf, who hit a three-run homer to open the scoring for Seton Hill. Joe Fiedor added an RBI double in that same inning, and Oberdorf added an RBI groundout in the second inning to make it 5-0.

The Golden Eagles did get three of those runs back in the fourth inning, with each of the first four batters reaching in one matter or another.
Kasey Shughart led off the inning with a single, followed by a walk from
Mason Kepler.
Scott McManamon brought Shughart home with a single, with the latter scoring after an errant throw by the pitcher.
Caden Contant added an RBI single in the next at-bat, driving a ball to left field to score Kepler, and
Daren Byers hit a sacrifice fly to cap the trio of runs.

The Griffins responded with one run in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the deficit remained manageable until the bottom of the sixth inning. Seton Hill turned their 6-3 lead into a 12-3 deficit with six runs in the home half of the inning, including doubles in four consecutive at-bats.

Shafer finished with the loss after allowing six runs in 4.1 innings of action.
Logan Schlegel and
Riley Palmer combined to finish out the remainder in relief. Contant and
Nate Petke each went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Seton Hill 11, Clarion 0
Recap: Seton Hill again put on early pressure in the second game, combining for nine runs in the first three innings to build a sizable advantage. Oberdorf hit a two-run single to open the scoring in the first inning, and Aidan Shephard hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning to make it 3-0. Where they piled on was in the third inning, with the Griffins scoring six runs in the frame to extend the lead.

Clarion's best chance to cut into that lead came in the top of the fifth inning, when
Tyler Meachum led off the action with an infield single to second base.
Michael Proios followed up with an infield single of his own to put runners on first and second, but neither
Alfredo Hurtado nor Shughart could score him from third.

Contant manufactured an opportunity to score in the top of the sixth inning after he singled to center field to lead off. He stole both second and third base to put himself 90 feet from home plate, but
Connor Booth struck out swinging to end the threat.

The Griffins scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to build an 11-run lead, and Blake Barker pitched a scoreless seventh for the win.

Contant went 2-for-3 at the plate with a couple of steals, while
Lenny Piccini, Meachum and Proios all also added hits.
