CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle tennis team wrapped up their fall dual match season on Friday afternoon, falling by a 7-0 score to Bloomsburg at Campbell Courts. For the second straight match Clarion took one of the doubles matches contested, but the Golden Eagles were swept throughout the singles session.
Â
The No. 2 doubles pairing of
Alyson Fisher and
Josie Beckerleg were victorious, improving to 3-1 overall with their third straight win as a duo. They teamed up to beat Maddie Delisio and Riley Noss in a closely-contested bout, winning 6-4 to provide a spark to the Golden Eagles. Bloomsburg managed to win at No. 1 singles, though, taking the match 6-0 to secure the doubles point.
Â
Clarion's best attempt at a win in the singles session came courtesy of
Alexis Strouse, who dropped a close decision to Lia-Sophie Seele at No. 2 singles. Strouse kept things close with Seele in both games, but the latter ultimately took that match by a 6-4, 6-4 score.
Davan Lion was competitive in the No. 1 singles match, playing Lexi Quackenbush to a 6-2, 6-3 decision. The Huskies controlled action through the other three matches, taking the 7-0 shutout win.
Â
The Golden Eagles' fall schedule will conclude in October when they compete at the PSAC Singles/Doubles Championships.
