CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles tennis team battled through rainy conditions on Wednesday afternoon, falling by a 6-1 score to Shippensburg at Campbell Courts.

Davan Lion continued her recent streak of success, extending her singles and her doubles wins streaks to three apiece with another pair of wins on Wednesday. She and
Josie Beckerleg picked up the first win of the day for Clarion, teaming up for a doubles win over Brooklynn Rupert and Rachel Gallagher in the No. 1 doubles match. They held on for a tight decision in that match, winning by a 6-4 score.

The Raiders took the additional two doubles matches to take the 1-0 lead, but Lion tied the score up in the No. 1 singles match. She beat Corinne Markovich handily in that match, taking a 6-3, 6-1 straight sets decision.

The Golden Eagles were competitive in other matches throughout, but the Raiders took the other five singles contests to seal up the win.
Taelyn Thomas played a competitive match at No. 5 singles, but fell to Ava Kalist by a 6-3, 6-2 score. Stephanie Juarez took on Gallagher in the No. 3 singles and put forth a tough effort as well, but Gallagher won a 6-3, 6-1 decision.
