CLARION, Pa. --- Playing a modified match schedule and using alternate scoring in order to avoid adverse weather conditions, the Golden Eagles tennis team fell in their final home match of the fall season, losing 7-0 to Bloomsburg at Campbell Courts.
Â
With precipitation on the radar and clouds in the sky, the teams started the match with singles and played 10-point games in lieu of full sets. The most competitive of these matches was the No. 1 singles match, with
Davan Lion battling Jen McDonald. Lion got the best of McDonald 10-6 in the first game, while McDonald defeated her 10-6 in the second. McDonald was able to hold off Lion in the third game, beating her 10-2 for the point.
Â
Elsewhere in the singles session, the Golden Eagles fought but could not sneak past the visiting Huskies.
Taelyn Thomas played an extended second game with Juliana Kim at No. 5 singles, but ultimately went down by a 12-10 score for the match loss. Stephanie Juarez went toe-to-toe with Alyssa Mazurek but dropped straight sets, falling 10-5, 10-7 in the No. 3 singles match, while
Josie Beckerleg loss 10-7-10-3 in the No. 2 match.
Â
The rain held off long enough for the teams to get the doubles session in, but again the Huskies won all three matches on the court.
