Tennis Falls in Home Fall Finale to Bloomsburg

CLARION, Pa. --- Playing a modified match schedule and using alternate scoring in order to avoid adverse weather conditions, the Golden Eagles tennis team fell in their final home match of the fall season, losing 7-0 to Bloomsburg at Campbell Courts.

With precipitation on the radar and clouds in the sky, the teams started the match with singles and played 10-point games in lieu of full sets. The most competitive of these matches was the No. 1 singles match, with Davan Lion battling Jen McDonald. Lion got the best of McDonald 10-6 in the first game, while McDonald defeated her 10-6 in the second. McDonald was able to hold off Lion in the third game, beating her 10-2 for the point.

Elsewhere in the singles session, the Golden Eagles fought but could not sneak past the visiting Huskies. Taelyn Thomas played an extended second game with Juliana Kim at No. 5 singles, but ultimately went down by a 12-10 score for the match loss. Stephanie Juarez went toe-to-toe with Alyssa Mazurek but dropped straight sets, falling 10-5, 10-7 in the No. 3 singles match, while Josie Beckerleg loss 10-7-10-3 in the No. 2 match.

The rain held off long enough for the teams to get the doubles session in, but again the Huskies won all three matches on the court.
