CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles tennis team kicked off their 2024-25 season on Sunday afternoon, falling by a 7-0 score to Westminster at Campbell Courts. Clarion played a number of competitive matches against the Titans, but could not quite push through for a match win.

The most exciting match of the day came in the No. 1 singles match, with
Davan Lion taking on the Titans' Gia Francisco. Lion took a competitive first set, winning by a 6-4 score, while Francisco responded with a 7-5 win in the second set. The third set tiebreaker was a back-and-forth battle, with Francisco edging Lion for a 12-10 win.

Josie Beckerleg also enjoyed a competitive singles match, but the senior dropped a match to Westminster's Christine Rossi. Rossi won the match in straight sets, defeating Beckerleg 6-3, 6-2. The Titans won all but one singles match in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over
Stephanie Juarez Murguia and an identical score over
Taelyn Thomas at No. 5 singles.

In the doubles session, the most competitive match was the No. 2 doubles contest. Juarez and Polia Vledeva dropped a 6-2 decision as the Titans won all three doubles matches, giving them the early lead in the team match.
