JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Golden Eagles soccer (0-3-1, 0-0-1) snapped a three-game losing streak by earning a draw on the road on Saturday, battling Pitt-Johnstown (0-0-3, 0-0-1) to a 2-2 tie in the 2025 PSAC opener.
The first half began with Clarion battling back from an early deficit after Pitt-Johnstown's Sarah Henry scored in the 5th minute. The Golden Eagles evened the score in the 14th minute with a goal by
Marisa Colondrillo, her first of the year, assisted by
Ciara DiMauro. DiMauro dribbled across the middle of the field and dished off a pinpoint accurate pass to Colondrillo at the top of the box, and Colondrillo fired it high and hard past the keeper for the tally.
That continued DiMauro's torrid scoring pace to start the 2025 season; the junior forward has recorded eight points in four games to kick off the year.
Clarion took the lead in the 42nd minute when
Paige Brewer scored, aided by
Sydney Taracatac, sending Clarion into halftime with a 2-1 advantage. A handball by the Mountain Cats just inside midfield set up a free kick for Taracatac, who launched a shot toward net. The rebound came back to Brewer, who found the back of the net to take the lead.
The second half began with Clarion on the offensive, as DiMauro's shot in the 47th minute was saved, followed quickly by
Alyssa Aquilio's attempt in the 48th minute, both thwarted by goalkeeper Emma Morin. Despite Clarion's early pressure, the Mountain Cats leveled the match at 2-2 with a goal by Maddie Barrick in the 57th minute.
Sage Sherk made key saves to keep the scoreline even, including a critical stop against Nicole Hawk in the 79th minute, as both teams played out a tense second half that ended in a draw. Sherk recorded six saves in goal.
