Women's Swimming & Diving Enjoys Big Day in Final Dual

CLARION, Pa.  – Honoring their seniors in the final home meet of their careers, the Golden Eagles women's swimming and diving team rolled to a 196-82 victory over Grove City on Saturday. The Golden Eagles took the top spot in 13 of the 16 events contested, showcasing a combination of veteran leadership and freshman depth.
 
Joslyn Jurski paced the Golden Eagles with a standout performance in the 200 Free, touching the wall first with a time of 1:57.50. She also contributed a runner-up finish in the 200 Back (2:18.47) and anchored the winning 200 Free Relay, teaming with Raely Fajohn, Amanda Fetsko and Madelynn McTeer to post a winning time of 1:39.47.
 
In the sprint freestyle events, Clarion proved untouchable. Fetsko led a clean sweep of the top four positions in the 100 Free, winning with a time of 54.49. Elli Knausz was just behind her in second place (55.10), followed by Fajohn (55.13) and Sarah Grimenstein (55.43). Earlier in the meet, Erika Zimmerman secured the 50 Free title in 24.78, followed closely by teammates Zara Paisley (24.85) and Fajohn (24.96).
 
The Golden Eagles' depth extended into the other events as well. McTeer earned a victory in the 500 Free, finishing in 5:27.64. In the 100 Back, Stella Chierico (1:01.03) and Fajohn (1:01.28) finished 1-2 to secure maximum points for Clarion. Chierico doubled up on her success by winning the 200 Back in 2:13.94. Paisley added to the tally by winning the 100 Breast in 1:08.36.
 
Clarion's divers were also excellent, with Taelyn Thomas winning the six-dive list In the 1-meter competition. She posted a score of 295.65. In the 11-dive list, Reese Norton placed first with a score of 382.80, followed by Mya Lee (366.45) and Madina Schebler (362.40).
 
Taelyn Thomas took second in the 3-meter event behind only Duquesne's Brianne Dempsey, posting a score of 276.15. Colleen Hudson followed in third (272.33).
