A 4-year letterwinner and 3-year starter on the football team (1974-77), John Dellostretto was an outstanding and versatile player at three different positions in his career. He was a three-time All PSAC-West choice at three positions. "Jay" was co-captain of the 1977 PSAC Championship team, leading Clarion to a 9-0-1 season and a 25-24 last second win over Millersville in the PSAC title game. At halfback in 1977 he ran for 486 yards and 2 td's on 110 carries, plus caught 13 passes 127 yards and 3 td's, 11 punt returns for 117 yards and 1 td. In 1976 at wideout, Jay led the team with 32 catches for 429 yards and 4 td's, gained 180 rushing yards and 3 td's on 64 tries, plus returned 16 punts for 135 yards and 10 kickoffs for 220 yards. His 44 points led the team. In 1975 Jay was the starting defensive safety, had one interception, returned 20 punts for 160 yards and 14 kickoffs for 225 yards. Clarion posted an overall record of 28-7-3 over his four years, a winning percentage of 77.6%. A 1978 graduate with a B.S. Degree in Eduction,he earned his Masters Degree from Clarion in 1980. Jay is a 1974 graduate of Upper Moreland High where he played football, baseball and basketball.
