Patrick Kiehl had an important two-year diving career at Clarion and set a standard of diving excellence that became expected in the decades to come. A captain of the first Clarion Men’s Swimming and Diving team in 1970, that team placed second at PSAC’s with Kiehl winning the 1-meter competition and placing second on three meter. He went on to win both one and three meter competitions at the Penn-Ohio Meet, then went to the NAIA Nationals and placed in the top 6 on both boards at nationals. In 1971 Clarion won the PSAC team title and Kiehl was first at PSAC’s on both the one and three meter boards, keying the Golden Eagle championship. After Pat won both boards again at the Penn-Ohio Meet, he went to the NAIA Nationals and won the national championship on the one meter board and became Clarion’s first diving national champion. He also placed 5th on three meter at nationals and finished his career as a four-time All-American and a national champion. He did not dive his senior year due to shoulder injuries. Pat is currently the owner of Investors Mortgage Company in Deland, Florida. He graduated from Valley (New Kensington) High School in 1968 and was a WPIAL Champion before coming to Clarion.*1972 Clarion University Grad - Elementary Education
