Joe Sebestyen was one of the best players ever to don a Clarion basketball uniform. Clarion's leading scorer and rebounder in each of the three seasons he played at Clarion (1971, 72, 73), Joe averaged 16 points and 10.4 rebounds in 1971, 15.1 points and 9.3 rebounds in 1972 and 16.5 points and 9.2 rebounds in 1973. He set Clarion's career record in field goal percentage (58.5%; 433 of 740), was third in career rebounds (722) and fourth in career scoring (1,198 points). Joe helped Clarion to 3 PSAC-West titles, two PSAC runner-up finishes (1971, 73) and an overall record of 53-22. An NAIA All-American in 1973, he was voted Pittsburgh Press and District 18 "Player of the Year" in 1973, as well as first team PSAC-West and D-18. He was a PSAC-West and D-18 first team selection in 1971 and a second team choice in 1972. A Political Science major who earned a 3.5 QPA and graduated Cum Laude in 1973, Sebestyen earned an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship and earned his Law Degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1976.
